Step 1. Select a topic from the Topics menu.
New topics are added periodically! If you’d like to suggest a new topic, tell us here.
Step 2. Select the states you’d like to compare from the menu bar on the left.
You can also compare the U.S. Constitution
Tip! If a state or the U.S. Constitution is grayed out, there is no clause in that
constitution for the topic you selected. To see clauses for that constitution, select a
different topic.
Step 3. Find similar text using the Compare Text and Search features.
Search for a particular word or phrase using the Find box.
The selected text is highlighted.
Step 4. When Comparing text, adjust the slider bar to the right to see closer matches.
Adjusting the slider bar to the right will show less matching text; adjusting it to the left will show more matches.
Additional Features
Move the order of states by dragging the blue header.
Collapse or expand the view by clicking “Close” or “Expand” in the bottom right corner of each clause. Collapse or expand all clauses simultaneously by using the button in the blue header for each state.
Tip! Remember to expand all clauses when using the Find and Compare Text features.
To move a particular clause to the top of a state, mark it as a favorite by clicking the yellow star.
Export your findings to CSV for further study.
